How Big Are They?
A snowshoe hare is about as big as a basket. They have long ears that look like a handle.

What Colour Are They?
The snowshoe hare is brown in the summer. In the winter, it turns white. It is brown in the summer to look like dirt and the tree branches. It is white in the winter to look like snow.

What Do They Eat?
It eats grass and clover, some bark from the tree. It uses its front teeth to eat. They are big and sharp, and can tear up the food.

How Do They Sleep?
They sleep in the daytime. They eat in the night time. They sleep in their home or under a tree.

Where/How Do They Live?
They live underground in a burrow. They like to live where there are trees and plants to eat. The like to live in the country, but some are in the city down where the river is. There are lots of trees there.

How Do They Move?
They use their back feet. The back feet are bigger than the front feet. There are 4 toes on each foot. There are lots of muscles in their legs. They are very fast hoppers.

Can They Do/Have Anything Special?
They change colour. They have babies in the springtime. Some people have them for pets.
