How
Big Are They? They are the size of a kid. A
kindergarten kid or a little bigger- maybe even grade 4
like my brother. They are not as big as my mother.
What Colour
Are They? Brown, white, a little grey. If they are
brown, they look like trees.
What Do They
Eat? They eat grass, leaves, berries, apples,
acorns, bark, twigs, and evergreen needles.
Where/How Do
They Live? They live in forests.
How Do They
Move? They use 4 legs. They walk on hoofs. Each hoof
has two toes. The hoofs help them push the snow over so
they can get their food. The hoofs look like heart
shapes in the snow.
What are their
Babies Called? The babies are called fawns. The
mother is called a doe. They drink milk from their
mother because they are mammals. They have lots of
twins- that means they have two babies at one time.
Can They
Do/Have Anything Special? Boy deer have antlers.
Antlers grow in spring and summer. Then, they go to the
tree and rub the antlers on the tree until they fall
off. Antlers are mostly smooth but a little bit bumpy.
Some hunters shoot deer for meat. |
