This
is an excellent art activity, which can be easily modified for any grade
level. It affords students the opportunity to experiment with a
variety of art mediums, and produce attractive works of art, that are sure
to make them proud, confident artists. |
 |
| Materials: |

|
| 1.
white art paper (approximately 30 x 50 cm) |
| 2.
bright wax crayons (neon colors are the best) |
| 3.
light blue tempera paint (The consistency should
be quite watery.) |
|
Process
-
Using the overhead
show the children how to draw a turtle one step at a time, starting
with the shell. This will be the main element in the picture;
-
Once the main
element is complete, have the children draw a sea scene;
-
Color each picture
with bright crayons, then outline each one with a dark (black or navy
blue) crayon;
-
Lightly paint over
the entire picture with the tempera paint. The paint will only
adhere to paper, not the wax;
-
Using a paper
towel, blot any excess paint.
