Just as all of us have very best friends, Franklin has a very special friend too.  His name is Bear.  As a class, we have been writing down the things that Bear has been teaching us about himself in the Franklin stories.  We have also been studying facts about Bears that live in the wild and have compared our two findings!  These are "THE BARE FACTS."

            WHAT WE LEARNED....

            BEAR (Franklin)      WILD BEARS

Bear lives in a tree with his family. Bears in the wild live in bear dens.
Bear stays awake all year long. Bears in the wild hibernate during the winter months.
Bear has a stuffed animal rabbit that he sleeps with. Bears in the wild are comforted by their mothers or siblings.
Bear has sharp teeth, big eyes, two ears and fur. Bears in the wild have sharp teeth, big eyes, two ears and fur.
Bear eats blueberries, honey, and plants. Bears in the wild eat berries, plants and other animals.
Bear is always friendly and happy.  He walks around on two legs and paws all of the time. Bears in the wild are not always friendly.  They walk around on all four legs and paws but stand on two feet when they are going to attack.
Bear has clean white teeth. Bears have sharp teeth and strong jaws.  Their teeth have tartar and are not all white.  Sometimes Bears are aggressive when they have a tooth ache.

To better understand the way that Bears live in the wild, we created a real Bear habitat!
